ANNA BIAVATI
Specialist Speech & Language Therapist for children
Selective Mutism specialization
My name is Anna Biavati, I am a private Specialist Speech and Language Therapist based in Edinburgh.
I support children with Selective Mutism and their families all over the world, and I manage face to face in the central belt of Scotland (Glasgow, Stirling, East Lothian, West Lothian and Midlothian, South and North Lanarkshire)
I graduated from Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh as a Speech & Language Therapist in 2002 and also completed an MSc in Science of Education in 1996.
I’m a proud mother of two wonderful children who continuously inspire me.
My connection with my kids serves as the foundation for my therapeutic interactions with others. Additionally, I’m fluent in both English and Italian, and I have a proficient understanding of Spanish and French. This language proficiency allows me to offer support in a bilingual approach when needed.
Working for 13 years for the NHS, managing a speech and language therapy clinic, I worked with many children and their families. I started my independent practice in the Edinburgh area in 2014, enjoying helping children with a range of speech, language, and communication needs.
My technical skills
I’m MA Hons BSc MRCSLT MHCPC MASALTIP
Specialist Speech & Language Therapist for children and adults
My particular interests are:
In 2013 I founded the Scottish Selective Mutism Group and I regularly provide seminars and support parents and professionals.
I have delivered therapy for children across a variety of settings including community clinics, hospitals, schools, and nurseries, as well as managing caseloads as part of a multi-disciplinary pediatric team.
I can help you and your child with Selective Mutism (or speech and sounds disorder) in Edinburgh as I have a lovely therapy room where you can come and feel relaxed with your child, and my aim is to play and make your child feel at home because this will help your child find it easier to transfer skills they were learning in therapy.
I have extensive experience in providing staff group training on Speech and Language development to organisations, schools, nurseries, and other healthcare professionals.
